The organised labour movement has suspended its intention to go on a national strike as a result of a closed-door meeting held with the president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, yesterday in the state after a nationwide protest against the removal of fuel subsidies by the Federal Government.
In an interview with Arise News in the early hours of Thursday morning, the president of the Trade Union Congress, Festus Osifo, made this known in an interview with the TV station.
Osifo said the Unions have gotten some commitment on the part of the government to start implementing some of the issues raised during talks with the president on the grievances of labour.
It would be recalled that Labour had earlier issued a statement calling for a general protest against the hardships brought by the removal of fuel subsidies, an event it said was largely successful and made President Bola Tinubu call for a meeting on the issues raised by the workers’ leaders.
