It was a sad day for the family of a 35-year-old man, Tochukwu Chidi after he was allegedly beaten and stabbed to death by four members of the Oodua People’s Congress after an argument that degenerated into a fight and subsequently stabling to death of Chidi.
In a statement released by the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said the operatives of the Bariga Police Division arrested the four OPC members who allegedly committed the murder on Temple Street, Bariga.
The statement listed the names of the suspects as Sunday Onilede, 35, Azan Razak, 35, Abdullahi Ibrahim, 29, and Fatai Taiwo, 40., all inflicted injuries on the dead, after being rushed to the Bariga General Hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead by a medical doctor.
Meanwhile, the commission of Police in the state, Hakeem Odumosu, has condemned the act and directed that the matter be transferred to the Command Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Panti, Yaba for further investigation and subsequent prosecution.
In a related development, the statement added that an English made Pistol was recovered from one Peter Arinola after he allegedly used it to harass a commercial sex worker to agree on his terms and amount to be paid before having sex with her.
It was reported that the red-light district worker raised the alarm which alerted people and Peter was overpowered, bringing in the police to effect his arrest; further investigation by the police also revealed that the pistol belongs to an armed robber (name withheld) used for routine operations.
