The United States Embassy in Nigeria on Monday showed images of a modern dairy farm ranch in Ikun, Ekiti State.
The image came on Twitter with cows breeding at a farm with the caption, “US Dairy Milk Cows in Ekiti State.
It is expected that the farm in Ikun would produce 10,000 liters of milk daily with cows from the USA in partnership with the embassy’s consulate in Lagos to assist the nation in growing and diversifying its economy and sources of income.
The farm sits on over 250 hectares of land with hundreds of cows grazing on it. Most of the cows are impregnated through insemination and notable milk makers in the country like Promasidor Nigeria Limited have an economic interest in the farm.
Pictures of the farm are coming at a time farmers and herders in the country have engaged in violent fights over farmlands’ destruction, killings, kidnapping, and other heinous crimes alleged to be perpetrated by some herders in the North Central and Southern parts of the country.
