As nationwide outcry continues against criminal elements among some Fulani herders’ on kidnapping, killings, etc, the presidency, on Monday asked the Nigerian Police Authorities to publish names of suspected Fulanis undergoing trials in various parts of the country.
In a program monitored by The Evening Post on Channels Television’s ‘Sunrise Daily’ Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, said the president is concerned about the ongoing situation kidnappings and tendencies of ethnic hate and violence, stating that it is the responsibility of his government to work with Nigerians to secure lives.
Shehu called on the police and all security agencies to take their line of action from the president’s remarks and deescalate violent attacks and ensure that it does not go beyond areas where they have occurred.
On series of blackmails leveled against the President for not doing enough to rain in his Fulani tribes’ men allegedly committing crimes, Garba Shehu debunked such insinuations describing it as “Uncharitable” comments against the president.
He said many criminal Fulani herders are being prosecuted and called on the police to take responsibility and publish a full list of Fulani herders undergoing trials in parts of the country with particular emphasis on Benue State.
